I agree with your comment about lack of confidence - I've been using Drupal for close to three years, but my experience has intensified in the last 12 months. All the same, I'd be petrified to amend a Drupal handbook page because a) I wouldn't want to put on information that was inaccurate, and b) I wouldn't want to get slapped down by a more experienced Drupaller.
For that reason, I write my notes and share them on my own site. That way, I know I'm reporting what's worked for me and if somebody else feels the need to correct that, then they can leave a comment.
@Tom - I think it's alright to state your opinion, even if you *are* standing on the sidelines. I have a ton of great ideas for how Drupal can be improved, but not the slightest idea or expertise to execute them. But it's all valuable feedback for the developers. That's my position anyway!
